Easily access an iOS device
Backup, transfer and delete iPad, iPhone or iPod touch files from your Mac
While you can get some access to the files stored on your iPad or iPhone through iTunes, this is fairly limited. The good news is there are apps available that give you access all files and folders on your iOS device without jailbreaking it. This gives you complete control over what goes on (and comes off ) your mobile – we’re going to look at one of them here: iFunBox, which is free from i-funbox.com/ifunboxmac.
iFunBox lets you browse your iPad, iPhone or iPod storage through a Finder-like interface
Once installed, iFunBox lets you browse your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch storage through a Finder-like interface. By placing your apps, media and other files at your fingertips, you can clear muchneeded space without uninstalling apps, as well as back-up or transfer documents, files and apps from one iOS device to another via your Mac without a Wi-Fi connection. You can even turn part of your device’s unused capacity into spare storage, just like a flash drive.
If you plan to use iFunBox to clear space, it warns you to be careful with the data you decide to delete – there’s no going back unless you’ve backed it up to your Mac first. Don’t worry, though, as we’ll go through what you need to do in the step-by-step walkthrough below. Nick Peers
