Hardware tease

-

Once again, Apple has teased me with new features and once again I find I can’t take advantage of them without buying new hardware.

I’m talking about Yosemite with its Handoff/Continuity features, where you can start something such as an email on your iPhone (on iOS 8) and continue it on your Mac, or pick up an incoming phone call on your Mac.

I have a mid-2010 21-inch iMac that’s happily running Mavericks, but I discovered that the above features won’t work on an iMac older than 2012 – it was the same with Mirroring: my Mac was too old!

I’m not a fan of the new ‘flat’ look – this might be okay on an iPhone or iPad, but not on a desktop – so tell me: why should I bother upgrading? Mike Fowler
