Mobile Drive Mg SSD 128GB
3 Unlike SSDs we’ve seen recently, this one is similar in size to a 2.5-inch hard drive. The 128GB version we tested gave pretty much identical transfer rates to Freecom’s compact 256GB mSSD (see MF275). It peaked at 435.1MB/ second when reading sequentially, and performed well in tough random transfers of small data, though it isn’t quite a match for the fastest portable SSDs we’ve tested. The real sticking point is paying more than £90 for 128GB when Transcend’s ESD400 (see MF278) offers similar performance for £67. Alan Stonebridge
Freecom’s drive performs as well as we’d expect from a USB 3.0 SSD, yet has somewhat oldfashioned physical dimensions.
