Scan and identify your photos

Mac Format - - RATED - Developer PhotoTime, photo iPhone, iPod touch, iPad Version 2.0.4 Age 4+

An app that scans and organises photos by breaking them into keywords based upon the content of the photo, PhotoTime will automatically spot if an image contains, say, ‘animals’ or ‘food’, and categorise them.

The app did a fantastic job of identifying shots with text in them, or differentiating between cats and dogs, for example, but failed miserably at its own ‘selfie’ category.

Faces are also tagged, so you can search by name. For now, only faces detected by the app (which was a bit hit or miss) can be tagged, but the devs promise a way to tag all faces in the future. Happily, searching was fast, and groups of tagged photos can be bookmarked for later.

Sadly, PhotoTime’s smarts are restricted to Camera Roll, Facebook or Instagram, and it doesn’t sync tags across all devices. J.R. Bookwalter

An app that makes organising and tagging your photos easy, but it’s not quite perfect yet.
