In your article about the new Photos app for OS X (MF287), you state that for cameras that don’t attach location data automatically: “you can look up places by name or postcode and attach this detail”. How do I do this? If it’s in the app, then it’s not obvious, so some help would be appreciated. Alan Burman

That sentence should have clarified that, at present, you need to look up the location using a third-party tool, attach it to photos, and only then import the updated files into Apple’s app. You can read more about this limitation of Photos at bit.ly/ mf_locationsnafu – in particular, the contributions from Pierre Bernard, developer of HoudahGeo (houdahgeo.com).
