Creating albums from Photos
Easily design and order photo albums and cards using the Photos app
Apple has talked a lot about its new Photos app for the Mac, and how it uses iCloud Photo Library to store your photos online so you can share them with others. But that doesn’t mean traditional printed photography has gone out of style. In fact, digital photography has made it even easier to use services such as PhotoBox and Moonpig, which allow people to upload their photos and design personalised photo books, calendars and greeting cards.
If you have a Mac you can do this all yourself, using the creative tools in Photos. Of course, iPhoto also had tools for designing and printing photo books and other documents – and most of the design tools we show you here are still available in iPhoto if you haven’t yet upgraded to Photos – but Photos puts a greater emphasis on creative projects with a new Projects tab that sits alongside the other options for photoediting and online sharing. You can even order your printed books from within Photos, using Apple’s own UK-based printing service. Cliff Joseph
