Which offers the most bells and whistles?
We love the idea of being able to stream our own tracks using Google Play and better still you don’t even need the premium All Access service for that. Blinkbox is the most limited streaming service on offer here. There’s little in terms of on demand, instead you just select from a variety of ‘stations’ and you can skip songs. The streaming quality is also the worst out of our contenders. However, Deezer does well in this category because it possibly has the strongest music catalogue, but there’s also a lot to love about the service itself. Spotify’s sharing and playlisting offering is superior to some of the others. We awarded extra points to Spotify, Deezer and Rdio for offering ad-supported unlimited streaming from desktop browsers. Special mention must also go to Tidal and Deezer for offering CD-quality streaming at a bit rate of 1,411kb/s. These services are expensive (though Deezer’s is cheaper at £15 a month rather than £20), but they point the way to the future of music delivery.
