Sum­mer Sun


I tapped the screen on my iPhone 6s to lock fo­cus on the car be­fore tak­ing this shot. I used to use Aper­ture for edit­ing and learnt so much from the Aper­ture ex­pert, Joseph Li­naschke. Lately, I came across Po­larr for iOS, which in­ter­est­ingly is now also avail­able for the Mac. I used curves to ad­just the high­lights and shad­ows, cre­at­ing a slight S curve. Then, once back in Pho­tos on my iPhone, I went to Edit > Fil­ters (the icon of three cir­cles) and chose Noir. Still in Pho­tos, I cropped the im­age to be square. I have al­ways ap­pre­ci­ated nat­u­ral light and how quickly it changes; it was the con­trast that in­spired me to take the photo in the first place. I’ve been in­spired by Damien Love­grove, who is sim­ply a mas­ter of light­ing, whether nat­u­ral or stu­dio.
