The Intel transition
Unknown to most Mac users, Mac OS X was living a double life from its inception, running on both PowerPC and Intel processors, but it wasn’t until 2005 that it was revealed that Mac OS X worked on both systems and Intel Macs were released in 2006. It was the final change that Apple needed to spur on widespread Mac adoption.
