“Hey Siri”

If you’ve bought or are planning to buy a HomePod, you’ll find yourself using the phrase “Hey Siri” a lot more. Siri is the primary method you use to control the new speaker.

Siri is Apple’s virtual assistant, and saying “Hey Siri” is perhaps the most intuitive way of activating it – and it works hands-free on more than just HomePod. If you have an iPhone 6s or later, you can say “Hey Siri” whenever you want to ask something of the assistant, unlike older devices that needed to be connected to power for this to work.

To turn on “Hey Siri”, go to Settings > Siri & Search > Listen for “Hey Siri”. Then say “Hey Siri” and immediately ask your question or give a command – there’s no need to pause in between. “Hey Siri” is disabled if your device is face down, or if you have a Smart Cover on your iPad and it is closed.

To discover Siri’s best or more amusing features it is worth experimenting. You may be surprised by the answers!
