Pro-looking screen recordings

For screen recordings with a professional edge, Camtasia is one of the leading lights. The app makes it very easy to record video from your screen and FaceTime camera in tandem with system audio and your Mac’s microphone.
New features include a redesigned media library that allows you to organise clips by video type. Also new are themes, enabling you to create and save sets of custom colours and fonts.
There are a handful of new royalty-free assets; more are available on subscription for $199 (about £150)/year.
Clips can be paused and resumed, and added to the library. You can edit them, arrange them on a timeline, add hotspots for the mouse pointer and callouts, then export or share.
To add animations and effects, you’ll need to invest time learning how. In every other way, Camtasia 2018 makes screen recordings a breeze. Just make sure you buy it from the Mac App Store, where you’ll pay £99.99 for a Mac-only version that doesn’t include TechSmith’s Maintenance package, but saves you over £100 compared with the price on TechSmith’s website.
The redesigned media bin helps to keep your clips organised.
