INFINITE MUSIC
Use djay Pro to access all audio areas
IT WILL TAKE 20 minutes
YOU WILL LEARN How to use streamed audio in your mixes
YOU’LL NEED djay Pro and a Spotify, Tidal or SoundCloud subscription
djay Pro is an extraordinarily useful app for DJs at every level from school disco to
superstar. It enables you to connect hardware controllers for on-stage mixing and scratching, it works with 4K video as well as music and it uses artificial intelligence to take a lot of the guesswork out of mixing. For example, if you wish, it can automatically detect the beats and tempo of a track and sync it with another so they play in perfect time, or you can use its Automix feature to do the DJing for you if you’d rather be socialising than spinning up records. It’s also packed with power features that can completely transform tracks in real time.
Access all areas
The latest version of djay is the most impressive yet, not least because it effectively gives you access to all the music ever recorded: the existing Apple Music and Spotify integration has been supplemented with support for Tidal and SoundCloud, and that’s available on the Mac app and on iOS too. You’ll need the appropriate subscription to take full advantage so, for example, to access Tidal Hi-Fi you’ll need to be a subscriber to it.
In this tutorial, we’ll use our Spotify account to show how things work, but the process is identical for Tidal and SoundCloud: djay’s clever match feature, which auto-suggests tracks based on what you’ve already played, works across the streaming services as well as your local library.
