MacBook Pro
From £1,299
In November 2019, Apple replaced the 15in model with a MacBook Pro 16-inch. The larger screen machine comes with a Magic Keyboard with a redesigned scissor mechanism, and a six-speaker sound system. The notebook also brings back a physical oe key, while retaining the Touch Bar.
The MBP 16in can be configured with a six- or eight-core ninth-generation Intel processor and 64GB of memory. There are 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, 4TB or 8TB storage options. A new thermal design increases airflow and an AMD Radeon Pro 5000M series GPU helps boost graphics performance by 2.1 times. Powering all this is a larger 100Whr battery, the largest possible in a notebook, offering up to 11 hours of browsing and video playback time.
The MacBook Pro 13-inch got its refresh in May 2020, and while it didn’t get the narrower bezels of its bigger cousin, it does now boast a Magic Keyboard and twice as much storage, while the top-end model also gains a 10th-gen Intel Core i5 CPU and faster memory. The entry- and mid-level models still come with eighth-gen quad-core Intel Core i5s. As well as Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi, all MBP models come with
Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports – the entry- and mid-level 13in MBPs have two ports on their left-hand side, while the high-end 2.0GHz 13in model and MacBook Pro 16in now have four Thunderbolt 3 ports (two on each side).
While the MacBook Pro 13-inch starts at £1,299, the highest-end MacBook Pro 16-inch with 8TB SSD storage, 8GB AMD Radeon Pro, 64GB of memory and a 2.4GHz i9 processor will set you back £6,099.
