Priest on child sex count

DE­TEC­TIVES from the Child Abuse Squad have charged a 64-year-old man of Pre­ston Beach as a re­sult of their in­ves­ti­ga­tion into al­leged his­tor­i­cal child sex­ual of­fences. It will be al­leged be­tween Au­gust 2010 and Novem­ber 2011 the man sex­u­ally as­saulted a young girl. The vic­tim was 10 years old at the time of the first of­fence. It will be fur­ther al­leged these in­ci­dents oc­curred while the man was an Angli­can priest and re­liev­ing at a church in Se­cret Har­bour. He has been charged with three counts of in­de­cent deal­ing of a child un­der 13 years of age and one count of per­sis­tent sex­ual con­duct with a child un­der 16 years. The man ap­peared in Rock­ing­ham Mag­is­trates Court last Tues­day and was or­dered to ap­pear in Perth Mag­is­trates Court on March 9, 2017.
