Shire endorses plan for rates to be paid weekly

Mandurah Coastal Times - - STREET WATCH -

THE Shire of Murray has endorsed a proposal to offer an additional option for rates payment.

Minimum payments options in WA are a single annual payment or four equal instalments.

A special payment option is also offered in which arrangements can be made to make set payments on specific dates.

But after some ratepayers asked to pay their rates in equal instalments across the year, the new option would be based via direct debit on 52 weekly instalments, 26 fortnightly instalments or 12 monthly instalments.

Based on feedback from Rockingham and Mandurah councils it is estimated that about 4 per cent of ratepayers would take up the offer.
