STAKEHILL resident and Year 11 Mandurah Baptist College student Ashley Garner is getting ready to rock in a high-energy musical featuring a classic story of rivalry and power.

Camp Rock: The Musical opens with Mitchie and her friends arriving at Camp Rock, ready to spend another summer jamming and having the time of their lives.

But the new, flashy Camp Star across the lake threatens Camp Rock’s very existence and Mitchie rallies her fellow Camp Rockers for the ultimate showdown.

Sixteen-year-old Ashley plays Shane Gray, a rock’n’roll star and part of a band called Connect 3 with his two brothers.

First stepping up to the stage in 2011, Ashley has appeared in Wind in the Willows, Annie, The Wardrobe, 13, Bugsy Malone and Les Miserables.

He twice won his age category in the Stars of Tomorrow competition for acting and musical theatre and his singing prowess saw him make it to the finals of Rockingham’s Festival of New Talent three years running and recognition at the annual Finley Awards.

Director Katherine Freind said Camp Rock was a fun show with great music and featured a large ensemble cast.

Disney’s Camp Rock: The Musical plays at Koorliny Arts Centre, Kwinana on March 17 and 18 with matinees on March 18 and 19.
