Mandurah Coastal Times - - DRIVE WAY -

ONE of the stars of this year’s gathering of magnificent machines at Pebble Beach in California was the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet, described as a ‘definition of the ultimate in future luxury’.

The glamorous Cabrio has the aesthetic proportions of a retro classic and the Merc folk call it a ‘sensual purity’ – but it’s as modern as tomorrow, powered by a 550kW electric drivetrain.

The 6.0m boat-tailed beauty has a long bonnet, reminiscent of the top teutons of the 1930s.

It runs on 24-inch lightalloy wheels with a range of more than 500km.

The interior crystal white nappa leather is in contrast to the dark paint finish and the fabric top with its interwoven rose gold threads has been co-ordinated with the look of the vehicle.

The all-wheel drive Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 has four compact electric motors and can accelerate to 100km/h in under four seconds, with top speed electronically governed at 250km/h.

Shades of yesteryear: the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabrio.
