Sum­mit a valu­able re­source

MORE than 40 stu­dents from Man­durah and Pin­jarra par­tic­i­pated in the re­cent Women in Min­ing and Re­sources sum­mit, fea­tur­ing aca­demics, ge­ol­o­gists, po­lit­i­cal com­men­ta­tors, au­thors and even a lead­ing ex­pert on men and mas­culin­ity.

The stu­dents, from Man­durah Catholic Col­lege, Halls Head Se­nior High School and Pin­jarra Se­nior High School, were part of a del­e­ga­tion that took part in a break­out ses­sion that formed part of Na­tional Sci­ence Week.

The sum­mit, Be­ing Bold for Change, was at Crown Tow­ers, Perth and of­fered a range of prac­ti­cal ses­sions de­signed to en­able del­e­gates to ap­ply newly learned tools and tech­niques in their own work­place.

Women in Min­ing WA founder Sabina Shugg said the sum­mit was a fo­rum for women to share their ex­pe­ri­ence with up-and-com­ing WA women ea­ger to con­trib­ute their skills to WA’s min­ing and re­sources cen­tres.
