PEEL Thunder player and community development officer Ben Howlett was inducted into the WAFL 200 Club on August 3.

Howlett joined 18 others at the Royal Perth Golf Course to be recognised for their contribution to football.

“It was an honour to be inducted into the 200 club,” he said.

“WA footy legend Barry Cable made the presentation to me and that meant a lot. “I was over the moon.” Howlett made the 200 Club with games spread across WAFL, VFL and AFL.

He originally gained his football bearings when he played in Peel Thunder’s under-18 team from 2004 for two years.

“I played three years of league football for Peel Thunder from 2006 until 2009 and then I was drafted by Essendon at the end of 2009 in the rookie trials,” he said.

“My first game for Essendon was 2010 and I was with them for eight years, played 124 games and then finished with them at the end of 2017.”

Howlett returned to Peel Thunder this year.
