MURIEL Rose James is 100 years young this month. Mrs James, who lives at Coolibah Lodge, Mandurah was born in 1918 in a little house in Railway Terrace, Sawyers Valley, which is still partially standing today. She later left Sawyers Valley and moved to Coolgardie, where she met husband Tom. They married in 1940 and had four children. In 1957, the family moved to Perth and Mrs James has lived in Mandurah since 1990. Mrs James, who was a keen gardener, puts her longevity down to good food and exercise, a sense of humour and a light beer at 5pm every day. Daughter Gail Pascoe said “she had been an amazing mother”.
