Po­lice on case af­ter child dies

HOMI­CIDE Squad De­tec­tives are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the death of a one-year-old boy.

Po­lice at­tended fol­low­ing baby Nathaniel’s death on Sun­day at a res­i­dence in Golden Bay.

A 25-year-old Man­durah man was charged af­ter he al­legedly as­saulted the child when he was six weeks old in 2017.

The in­fant was taken to Nar­ro­gin Re­gional Hos­pi­tal on Oc­to­ber 9, 2017, with in­juries he had re­ceived.

He was trans­ferred to Princess Mar­garet Hos­pi­tal but was re­leased.

Michael Ash­ley Macrae, who was known to the child, was charged with ag­gra­vated griev­ous bod­ily harm and has ap­peared in Nar­ro­gin and Man­durah mag­is­trates courts. He pleaded not guilty and is next due in Perth Dis­trict Court on Novem­ber 23 for a trial list­ing hear­ing.
