HALLS Head Croquet Club’s long-time secretary, referee and coach Val Alexander has finally hung up her files but not her mallet. Twenty years of minutes and correspondence have come to an end for Ms Alexander who, at 80, plans to concentrate on playing croquet and coaching new players instead of handling documents and the filing cabinet. More than 30 members watched as she was presented with a jewelled bracelet to commemorate her commitment to the croquet club. Gwen Anderson and Mary Lyons are also long-time club members, with Ms Anderson having played for the State Croquet team.
