It felt unique, so I wanted to run with it. It’s about being intoxicated by someone, whether it’s to do with love or lust.” MANIA: Is there a new full-length album on the way? NATHANIEL: “It’s in the works, but it’s still early days.” MANIA: How would you describe your music? NATHANIEL: “Soul, funk, r’n’b, urban pop.” MANIA: How do you pump yourself up before a gig? NATHANIEL: “I like to be alone, relaxing and taking it all in. Sometimes I’ll listen to some music to get me into the mood.” MANIA: You used to be a wedding singer. What was your favourite song to cover? NATHANIEL: “Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together.’ MANIA: What’s your favourite tour/ performance memory? NATHANIEL: “I toured with Mariah Carey. NATHANIEL: “I love being fit, so I’m always at the gym. I love watching movies as well and basketball. If I’m not playing basketball, I’ll go watch a game instead.” MANIA: What is the first album you bought? NATHANIEL: “It was an NSync album or a Boyz II Men album.” MANIA: If you could play on stage with any other band or musician who would it be? NATHANIEL: “Prince or Michael Jackson.” MANIA: Channel Seven has just announced that The X Factor won’t be returning in 2017. That’s where you got your big break, so how do you feel about its cancellation? NATHANIEL: “That’s where it really started for me, so it’s a little sad it won’t be airing anymore. It was such a great avenue and door for singers and musicians. But, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it back a few years down the track.”
