REGION’S FOOD SET TO SHINE
FASHION, lifestyle and motherhood blogger Rayne Embley visited some of the region’s producers ahead of WA’s Celebrity Signature Dish Competition on June 4.
Ms Embley has partnered with the Southern Forests Food Council and The Shorehouse chef Ollie Gould, who visited the region earlier in the month, to represent the Southern Forests Region in the competition.
During her visit, Ms Embley visited CharCol Springs, The Truffle and Wine Co and Chestnut Grove.
“Ms Embley described the region as “sensational”.
“The one thing I find about this region is there is produce here that you generally can’t get anywhere else,” she said.
As part of the competition, Ms Embley and Mr Gould will use truffles, from the Truffle and Wine Co and marron from Blue Ridge Marron in their dish.
“The rest we’ll keep under wraps – just so there’s a little bit of mystery,” she said.
“With the region’s wonderful produce hopefully we’ll blow the competitors out of the water.”
The 60-minute cook-off commences at 1.30pm and will be held as part of the WA Day Festival at Elizabeth Quay.
The event is presented by the Department of Agriculture and Food’s ‘Buy West Eat Best’ program.
Truffle and Wine Co head of sales Alex Wilson and Rayne Embly are excited truffles will feature in the WA’s Celebrity Signature Dish competition next month.
