Karate kids are among the best

STU­DENTS from Bridgetown Goju Ryu Karate com­peted in the West Aus­tralian Karate League, Perth Open Tour­na­ment on Sun­day.

Evie Oliver, 11, from Green­bushes, com­peted in the Girls 10 and 11 years Elite Kata di­vi­sion and re­ceived a sil­ver medal.

Emma Jack­son, 14, from Hester, com­peted in the Girls 14 and 15 years Elite Kata di­vi­sion and also placed sec­ond while their in­struc­tor, Damien Bell, com­peted in the Men's 35 and over vet­er­ans Kata and placed fourth.

Years of train­ing have seen stu­dents from Bridgetown Goju Ryu reg­u­larly per­form in the top di­vi­sion, com­pet­ing against rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the State team.

To once again make the fi­nal rounds is a re­flec­tion of the ef­fort they have put in, Bell said.

Classes are held four times a week in Bridgetown and Green­bushes.
