Tips to help find the right bal­ance in life

FIND­ING a bal­ance be­tween work and life­style and the val­ues to help you achieve that formed the top­ics of dis­cus­sion in an event at the Round­house on Thurs­day.

Women gath­ered for tips and ex­er­cises on how to achieve a healthy work/life bal­ance, with the main ar­eas of fo­cus be­ing life­style val­ues, in­come, em­ploy­ment, per­sonal busi­ness and vol­un­teer­ing.

The event was pre­sented by the South West Women’s Health and In­for­ma­tion Cen­tre and sup­ported by fund­ing from the Depart­ment of Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment, Sport and Cul­tural In­dus­tries Women’s Grants.

Three speak­ers fo­cused on dif­fer­ent as­pects of find­ing a work/life bal­ance.

Les­ley Jackes’ pre­sen­ta­tion cen­tred on the iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of which of the five ar­eas ap­plied to each woman in­di­vid­u­ally and how it could help find “life­style val­ues”.

“It was also a day of en­cour­age­ment and net­work­ing on how to adapt your life­style to re­gional liv­ing,” she said.

Sarah Collin’s pre­sen­ta­tion ex­plored the women’s iden­ti­fied val­ues and how ex­plor­ing those val­ues more could form the foun­da­tion of a suc­cess­ful life.

“There was also a mind and body as­pect and I took them through a se­ries of yoga ex­er­cises,” Ms Collin said.

Jac­qui Gra­ham’s pre­sen­ta­tion was an in­side look into how iden­ti­fy­ing val­ues and liv­ing by them could ef­fec­tively work.

“I am liv­ing the life we’ve been talk­ing about, I talked about the stress relief and the free­dom that comes with it,” she said.

Women's Life Bal­ance event speak­ers Sarah Collin, Les­ley Jackes and Jac­qui Gra­ham brought a wide range of lit­er­a­ture to give fo­rum par­tic­i­pants a head start on how to de­fine and live a bal­anced life.
