Blue­grass fans re­joice

BLUE­GRASS mu­si­cians will de­scend on Man­jimup to host work­shops, in­stru­ment tu­ition and jam ses­sions later this month.

The Man­jimup Blue­grass JamCamp Week­end is a three-day event pro­vid­ing mu­si­cians the op­por­tu­nity to learn from some of Aus­tralia’s finest blue­grass mu­si­cians, in­clud­ing Ian Simp­son and Donal Baylor.

The week­end will start with a tu­tors’ con­cert on Fri­day night, then work­shops all day Satur­day and Sun­day and Mon­day morn­ing.

A con­cert for par­tic­i­pants is planned for Sun­day night.

All the mu­sic ac­tion will take place in the Man­jimup CBD with sev­eral venues all within walk­ing dis­tance of each other.

Or­gan­iser Mary Nixon said there was also a va­ri­ety of en­ter­tain­ment avail­able to those not en­rolled in the JamCamp, in­clud­ing the Fri­day night tu­tors con­cert and the Satur­day night bush dance fea­tur­ing Short­grass Blue­grass Band.

“It’s a very com­mu­nity ori­en­tated event,” she said.

“It’s all about get­ting to­gether to dance, sing, jam and make friends.”

The JamCamp week­end, pre­sented by the War­ren Arts Coun­cil,takes place from Septem­ber 22 to 25.
