Centre upgrades to benefit community
UPGRADES to the Manjimup Family Centre’s Meeting Place are moving forward with building tenders to go out soon.
The centre has $250,000 to spend on the project, which will include the construction of an additional room at the Meeting Place and upgrades to the existing building.
Money for the project consists of $190,000 from Lotterywest, $47,000 from Royalties for Regions and $13,000 from the centre.
Centre coordinator Andre Foulon said the new 14m x 7.5m building would include bigger rooms for Relationships WA, an additional counselling office, a toilet, kitchen and seating area.
“We hope to have it done by spring next year,” Mr Foulon said.
The building will also coincide with the centre’s 40th anniversary.
Changes to the existing building will involve a complete interior fit out including new carpets throughout, LED lighting and a laundry.
“The upgrades will make the building more functional, especially to seniors who don’t have to cross the street to go to the toilets,” he said.
