Dingup’s bowlers put Manjimup to the sword
DINGUP scored a close 11-run win over Manjimup to open the Warren Blackwood Cricket Association season.
Dingup won the toss and elected to bat and openers Harley Sparks and Callan Kezich set about giving the side a head start.
While Kezich got caught on three runs, Sparks put on a tidy 32, including five fours.
The middle order failed to find its footing until Riley Liddelow came out and scored a helpful 27 not out, including four fours.
Liddelow ran out of partners and Dingup finished its innings on 115.
Manjimup’s Dane Raper was the leading bowler, with 3-15 off nine overs and other notable bowling performances were from brothers Evan and Aled Phillips Johns, who produced 2-13 and 2-27 respectively.
After the break, Manjimup set about matching Dingup’s run tally but after a slow start, the middle order in Cameron Harris (35) and Rhett Holwill (25) steadied the ship.
Once Harris was bowled out by Joe Fontanini, the last three batsmen were out within the next 12 runs, for a final score of 104 in 29 overs.
Dingup bowler Rory Sparks was the best Dingup bowler with 3-7 in seven overs, including four maiden overs and another impressive performer was Blake Lidellow with 3-26.
