COM­MU­NITY groups and vol­un­teers in the Lower South West had the op­por­tu­nity to show­case their hard work to WA Gov­er­nor Kerry San­der­son dur­ing a visit this month.

Her Ex­cel­lency Mrs San­der­son came to the area as part of a South West tour to ex­press ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the re­gion’s hard work­ers.

Dur­ing her visit on Novem­ber 3, Mrs San­der­son en­joyed lunch with var­i­ous com­mu­nity groups and a guided tour through Ad­vanced Pack­ing and Mar­ket­ing Ser­vices in Man­jimup and Ban­nis­ter Downs Dairy in North­cliffe.

“It was ex­cit­ing to visit Ban­nis­ter Downs Dairy Farm in North­cliffe and again view premium qual­ity prod­ucts and an ex­cit­ing state of the art ex­pan­sion of the dairy,” she said.

“I was also hugely im­pressed by the in­no­va­tive av­o­cado pro­cess­ing and pack­ing with in­dus­try lead­ers Ad­vanced Pack­ing and Mar­ket­ing Ser­vices in Man­jimup, as well as see­ing their ex­cit­ing range of juices and value-added food prod­ucts in­clud­ing baby food.”

Mrs San­der­son said it was a plea­sure to see the far-reach­ing im­pact of the work of the State’s vol­un­teers.

“The peo­ple who call the Shire of Man­jimup home dis­play won­der­ful stew­ard­ship of the pre­cious nat­u­ral re­sources of the re­gion,” she said.

“Their love of and pride in the area, and their many in­dus­tries and en­deav­ours, makes it a special place to visit.

“I know the area will con­tinue to ex­pe­ri­ence suc­cess af­ter wit­ness­ing its many achieve­ments and learn­ing more about the ex­cit­ing plans for the fu­ture.”

Mrs San­der­son said re­gional com­mu­ni­ties made an “enor­mous con­tri­bu­tion” to Western Aus­tralia in many ar­eas, in­clud­ing agri­cul­ture and tourism.
