COMMUNITY groups and volunteers in the Lower South West had the opportunity to showcase their hard work to WA Governor Kerry Sanderson during a visit this month.
Her Excellency Mrs Sanderson came to the area as part of a South West tour to express appreciation for the region’s hard workers.
During her visit on November 3, Mrs Sanderson enjoyed lunch with various community groups and a guided tour through Advanced Packing and Marketing Services in Manjimup and Bannister Downs Dairy in Northcliffe.
“It was exciting to visit Bannister Downs Dairy Farm in Northcliffe and again view premium quality products and an exciting state of the art expansion of the dairy,” she said.
“I was also hugely impressed by the innovative avocado processing and packing with industry leaders Advanced Packing and Marketing Services in Manjimup, as well as seeing their exciting range of juices and value-added food products including baby food.”
Mrs Sanderson said it was a pleasure to see the far-reaching impact of the work of the State’s volunteers.
“The people who call the Shire of Manjimup home display wonderful stewardship of the precious natural resources of the region,” she said.
“Their love of and pride in the area, and their many industries and endeavours, makes it a special place to visit.
“I know the area will continue to experience success after witnessing its many achievements and learning more about the exciting plans for the future.”
Mrs Sanderson said regional communities made an “enormous contribution” to Western Australia in many areas, including agriculture and tourism.
