THE team at Manjimup Farmers Market launched a loyalty card on Saturday.

For every $5 spent at the market, people earn a stamp on the card and on the 20th stamp, the prize is a free Manjimup Farmers Market bag.

Market manager Kim Starkie said the loyalty card was a new initiative that had been made a reality quickly.

“It allows us to collect a lot more data on how much people spend at the markets and where they’re from,” Mrs Starkie said.

“It also shows everyone involved at the market is working together.”

She said the reward of a reusable market bag was timely given the plastic bag ban begins on July 1.

“It gets people to reduce plastic, shop local and incentivises people to think environmentally,” she said.

On Saturday at the launch of the loyalty card, Mrs Starkie said it was well received.

“The loyalty cards and reusable bags are at no cost to the stall holders and it all encourages stall holders to talk to customers,” she said.
