Mar­ket to high­light re­gion

THE team be­hind the Manjimup Farm­ers Mar­ket is ex­pand­ing through­out the re­gion with a trial mar­ket to be held in Pem­ber­ton at the end of the month.

The theme of the win­ter mar­ket is “grow it, make it, bake it”, with a fo­cus on what the South­ern Forests re­gion has to of­fer.

The in­au­gu­ral mar­ket will be held on June 30 from 9am to 1pm at the Pem­ber­ton Mill Hall.

Mar­ket man­ager Kim Starkie said the event was be­ing held fol­low­ing a suc­cess­ful mar­ket as part of the Un­earthed Pem­ber­ton Fes­ti­val.

“This time, as it’s win­ter, we are in the mill hall and the mill hall com­mit­tee are hap­pily sup­port­ing us in our ven­ture to Pem­ber­ton,” she said.

“If the event goes well, we hope to bring our mar­kets to Pem­ber­ton through­out the

year.” Other fea­tures of the mar­ket will in­clude a visit from Alyssa Sadlo from the Nat­u­ral Dog, who will co­or­di­nate truf­fle hunts.

“We will have fresh pro­duce, oils, jams, pre­serves, eggs, cakes, wine, ar­ti­sans and so much more,” Mrs Starkie said.

Harry Her­cock, Andrew Mount­ford, Beth Short­house and Mark Aitken will be among the pro­duc­ers tak­ing part in the Pem­ber­ton mar­ket this month.
