Mansfield to host refugees in April
RURAL Australians for Refugees Mansfield (RAR) will host refugees from Myanmar, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Sudan for a weekend at the end of April.
“We are doing what Mansfield does best showcasing our beautiful region to visitors for a weekend in Autumn,” said the secretary of RAR Mansfield Mary Dunn of Merrijig.
“Our visitors will stay with families in Merton, Tolmie, Merrijig and Jamieson as well as in Mansfield - between them all they will have a great picture of the beauties of this region.”
A busy program has been organised which includes a picnic at Botanic Park, a farm visit, tree planting and a traditional Australian campfire with a barbecue, music and singing.
“The highlight of the weekend will be the opportunity for local families and refugees to get to know each other and learn about each other’s customs,” Mr Dunn said.
