Kody Azzopardi streaks towards the finish line at last week’s Mansfield Primary School athletics day.

THE Mansfield Primary School held their annual athletics carnival last Thursday, and the weather couldn’t have been better.

Students from prep to grade six got involved, with some ring-in help provided by Mansfield Secondary College students.

Whether it was flying over the hurdles, leaping the high-jump or sprinting the 100 metre dash, students were grateful for the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the last of the winter sunshine.

GREAT DAY: It was the perfect way to officially say goodbye to winter last week when the Mansfield Primary School held their athletics carnival. Students were able to enjoy the sunshine and stretch their legs ahead of spring.

RAISING THE BAR: Talia Appleton wows the crowd as she continued to clear the high-jump levels.

UP AND OVER: One of the best spectator events at any sports day is the high jump, as this student proves by clearing the metre-high bar.

MATES: Although not deliberate, Cayd Tumai and Jack Tanner both came dressed in remarkably similar shades of Howitt blue.

GO STIRLING: Erin Brond left no doubts as to her sporting loyalties, dressing in bright yellow for the Mansfield Primary School sports day.

STONGER IN RED: Team Buller champions Ashton Dean and Cody Azzopardi.

BLUE BROTHERS: Ben Les and Dylan Lowry were all smiles for team Howitt.

GO BULLER: Waiting their turn to compete in the sprints were Genesis Petersen and Erin Lunam.

MAGIC MAN: Looking like he was going to pull a first place out of his magician’s pocket was Seth Dean.

BELLOW FOR YELLOW: Zac Appleby was all about showing his support for Stirling during the Mansfield Primary School athletics day.
