Mansfield District Hospital to put the freeze on ice

Mansfield Courier - - NEWS -

THE first meeting of the Ice and Other Drugs Project is to take place on Wednesday, November 1 at the Delatite Hotel.

Commencing at 6pm, this is an opportunity for local people to become a part of a project to tackle ice and other drug use in the Mansfield community.

Mansfield District Hospital’s director of operations Melanie Green said “we want people who are concerned about drugs within the Mansfield community to become a part of this group”.

“We want to hear from their experience or perspective about what needs to be done to address drug use,” she said.

“Our project will be locally owned and locally delivered as we strongly believe that this will lead to better results.”

The hospital is currently recruiting a community health nurse to lead the program.

This person will work closely with local GPs, schools, police and the justice system to ensure that those people requiring assistance have the opportunity for early intervention.
