Library wins Best Parade entry
LAST Saturday, the main street of Mansfield came alive.
There was something for everyone - a bustling bush market up Highett Street, the Median to Rare sculpture exhibit, live shows and even a pen of alpacas from Joma Alpacas.
But no doubt the highlight of the day was the annual Mansfield Grand Parade.
With horses, dogs, vehicles and even a toilet on wheels, the parade is a fun and energetic look at the groups that call Mansfield home.
The Mansfield Library took out Best Entry, with an impressive assortment of book characters parading as part of their “float”.
BEST ENTRY: The Mansfield Library took out the Best Entry in the Mansfield Grand Parade – and rightly so, with at least 50 people dressed as book characters, the library went to considerable effort to arrange their display. There were Harry Potter magicians, Little House on the Prairie sweethearts (pictured) and characters from Mary Poppins, to name a few.
BE SAFE: Reminding people to be safe over the long weekend was (from left) Marie Mansfield, SES Platypus and Sheree Mansfield.
MMUDS: Karen Pirie, from MMuDS, made for a very classy bag lady.
FAMOUS PANEL VAN: Everyone in Mansfield knows Billy Webb’s pride and joy, apart from his family, is his panel van.
MUSCLE POWER: Facing down some stiff competition, this yellow beast took out the Best Vehicle entry.
SMILES: There was lots of smiling during the Mansfield Grand Parade last Saturday morning.
COME TO THE SHOW: Representing the Mansfield A & P Society was Edwin Harris.
WOW: (From left) Emma Hsiang, Melody Chang and Ai Shibuya are in Mansfield on a working holiday, and could not quite believe their eyes when the Mansfield Grand Parade started a procession down the main street.
STEP OUT: No parade would be complete without bagpipes.
PARADE FAIRY: Danielle Wade, from Mansfield Plumbing, was the Mansfield Grand Parade fairy, handing out lollies.
WHAT A COLLECTION: Jesus gave the Mansfield Grand Parade a big thumbs up.
