Little aths hits its straps

Mansfield Courier - - SPORT - By SUSAN McCORMICK

IT was a great night for little athletics with everyone there ready for lots of fun.

At shot put the U10s were flexing their muscles putting in some big throws, Oscar Guppy recording a big PB.

The U6s were also having their first go at shot put with Paige Gridley recording a big throw to start.

At discus the U12s were having their first go at javelin, Madi Cronin showed some great early form.

The U11s are working on their spins for the discus and once they land them within the throw zone we are going to see some big throws.

High jump and the U8s and U9s were getting their rhythm back, Maybelle Van Winden had the best early form.

Leaping into the sand, Daelin Fox and Jack Marks have set themselves some big jumps to try and better for a PB later.

As did Lachlan Lamont and Elise Empey in the long jump.

On the track it was a night of sprints.

Liam Smith showed no signs of tired legs after a day of hiking speeding to the finish in the 100m and 200m.

U11 boys Sam Guppy and Jack Marks pushed each other the whole way in the 200m, setting up a great rivalry for the season.

The U6s decided 100m wasn’t enough and did the 200m too - Lily Adams powered home for a great finish in both.

A big thank you to our parent helpers and all the extras who stepped in at the last minute for a smoothly run night.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next week and don’t forget our Bendigo Bank timing system will be coming soon.
