Mans­field res­i­dents could claim up to $4 mil­lion in lost su­per

MANS­FIELD res­i­dents are miss­ing out on al­most $4 mil­lion in su­per, ac­cord­ing to a re­port re­leased by the Aus­tral

Some $1.7 mil­lion is ei­ther lost or un­claimed in those liv­ing out of town hav­ing al­most $2 mil­lion sit­ting with the ATO.

There are 85 dif­fer­ent ac­counts owned by peo­ple in ac­counts with un­claimed funds.

to­tal of $5.3 mil­lion in lost and un­claimed su­per, Wan­garatta has more than $8 mil­lion and Euroa has $2 mil­lion.

ATO as­sis­tant com­mis­sioner, Gra­ham Whyte, said now was the time for Vic­to­ri­ans to re­con­nect with lost su­per, spread across the state in more than

“It’s im­por­tant to re­main en­gaged with your su­per fund through all stages of your ca­reer, not just when you are ready to re­tire,” he said.

“The data also re­veals that more than a third of Aus­tralians still hold two or more su­per ac­counts.”

Peo­ple can lose con­tact with their su­per funds when they change jobs, move house, or for­get to up­date their de­tails.

Es­tab­lish­ing and link­ing a myGov ac­count to the ATO en­ables any in­di­vid­ual to view all their su­per de­tails, in­clud­ing any that have been lost or for­got­ten about.

From there, it is easy to con­sol­i­date ac­counts.
