Com­mu­nity and en­vi­ron­ment levy grants

THE Koala Res­cue Queens­land am­bu­lance ser­vice will con­tinue its vi­tal work sav­ing our much-loved furry friends thanks to a ma­jor com­mu­nity grant from Sun­shine Coast Coun­cil.

Koala Res­cue Queens­land’s Su­san Grib­ble said the $15,000 Com­mu­nity Devel­op­ment Grant would pro­vide valu­able funds to­wards the pur­chase of a ve­hi­cle to pro­vide a 24-hour am­bu­lance ser­vice for koala res­cue.

“As a not-for-profit com­mu­nity group we rely on do­na­tions but with­out grants like this, the am­bu­lance res­cue ser­vice would not be pos­si­ble,” she said.

“Our am­bu­lance ser­vice will pro­vide trans­fers of koalas from vets, car­ers and other res­cue ser­vices to wildlife hos­pi­tals.”

Ap­pli­ca­tions are open for three of the coun­cil’s grants pro­grams:

■ Com­mu­nity Grants – Ma­jor Grants – up to $15,000 (up to $30,000 in the Com­mu­nity Fa­cil­i­ties cat­e­gory only);

■ Com­mu­nity Grants – Mi­nor Grant (Com­mu­nity Events cat­e­gory only) – up to $2000; and

■ En­vi­ron­ment Levy Grants – up to $5000.

The pro­gram of­fers not-for-profit com­mu­nity groups fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance for pro­jects, ac­tiv­i­ties and events that ben­e­fit Sun­shine Coast com­mu­ni­ties.

Ap­pli­ca­tions close on Mon­day, Au­gust 28.
