From strength to strength
Numerous awards for business
THIS family-run business has gone above and beyond on the Coast consecutively winning the Queensland Honda Dealer of the Year Award for the fourth time.
With goals to take home the Australian Honda Dealer for 2017, this local business started from humble beginnings when the family bought the Mooloolaba store in 2002.
Sunshine Coast Mowers’ principal dealer Hayden Cook said he took over the family business with his brother in 2013 and opened the second store in Caloundra a year later.
Mr Cook said it was the understanding and connection with their customers that separated Sunshine Coast Mowers from other dealerships.
“There are a lot of customers that we talk to and see regularly,” he said.
“We have the bond I suppose, when you know them and they know you.”
But he didn’t always picture his work leaning towards the small engines and mowing industry.
Mr Cook said he was always interested in “engines and machines” after growing up on acreage, but he wanted to leave high school and pursue a career in the car industry.
“I was in Year 10 and wanting to leave school and start an apprenticeship in the mechanical industry,” he said.
“I was wanting to work within the motor car industry but after registering with a group training company, the opportunity to work with small engines came about.
“I was a little hesitant to begin with not knowing if the industry of out-door power equipment had the opportunities I was seeking.”
Sunshine Coast mowers stocks “nearly 100%” of Honda products ranging from Lawn Mowers, Brush-cutters, Leaf Blowers, Water Pumps to Generators, Lawn Edgers and replacement Engines.
Mr Cook said customers love the products because of their practicality, low emissions, reliability and five-year extended warranty on selected items.
