Caloundra’s business

Maroochy Weekly - - NEWS | OPINION -

WHEN I arrived in Caloundra two years ago I was fortunate to meet the president of the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce at a meeting and found him to be charming, interesting and dedicated to his position, however, I found his recent dissertation in your wonderful magazine to be delusional regarding the small business people of the area.

Just ask any Bulcock St trader how much support they receive from the chamber, and the response would be very little.

Spare a thought also to the tourist industry in the Happy Valley area, and you will experience a similar response from managers of restaurants and other small businesses regarding the noise pollution from “cowboy” bus drivers and equally noisy exhausts from thoughtless, unchecked “local yokels” at any time of the night/day, oblivious to the results of their actions and lacking the consideration and/ or encouragement to this important industry.

Yes, Mr President, we all agree with you and our mayor about verbal support for local businesses.

What are you going to do about it? SHIRLEY WILSON Happy Valley
