Sup­port ses­sions for free

DO YOU know some­one liv­ing with de­men­tia? Alzheimer’s Aus­tralia (Queens­land) is hold­ing free ed­u­ca­tion ses­sions for peo­ple liv­ing with de­men­tia and their loved ones in your re­gion.

There are an es­ti­mated 77,633 peo­ple with de­men­tia in Queens­land, which is ex­pected to grow to 233,298 peo­ple by 2056.

Chances are, some­one you know is liv­ing with de­men­tia.

Come along to these free ed­u­ca­tion ses­sions and dis­cover more about de­men­tia and the sup­port that is avail­able.

The ed­u­ca­tion ses­sions will cover a se­ries of top­ics, in­clud­ing “De­men­tia – know the facts”, “Fam­ily Carer Course”, “Liv­ing with Mem­ory Loss”, “Con­sid­er­ing Res­i­den­tial Care” and “Liv­ing with Change” for fam­ily or friends want­ing to find out more in­for­ma­tion about car­ing for some­one with de­men­tia.

Se­nior De­men­tia Ad­vi­sor from Alzheimer’s Aus­tralia (Queens­land) Bar­bara Cun­ning­ham said the aim of these ed­u­ca­tion ses­sions is to sup­port the com­mu­nity.

“At­tend­ing these work­shops could help you get a bet­ter un­der­stand­ing of de­men­tia and de­velop ef­fec­tive strate­gies ei­ther for your­self or to sup­port a loved one,” Bar­bara said.

Ses­sion will run from Au­gust 24 to Septem­ber 22.
