Million dollar Nicklin upgrade
A MAJOR $19 million upgrade is about to start on a key, arterial Sunshine Coast road, with delays expected as speed limits are reduced.
The major infrastructure improvements are set to begin on Nicklin Way, as part of the works required to service Stockland’s
$174 million Oceanside Bokarina Beach estate.
Works will begin this month on the road upgrades, to increase the capacity of the surrounding road network and ensure access for the 2500-odd new residents.
New bridge crossings will be created on Nicklin Way, with pedestrian and cycle paths underneath, while Lake Kawana itself will be extended into the Bokarina Beach site, which is bordered by Beach Dr and Wurley Dr.
The Nicklin Way-Lake Kawana Blvd intersection will also be upgraded to create access to the Stockland site, while an additional southbound lane and right-turn lane into Lake Kawana Blvd will be created.
Nicklin Way will also have dedicated bike lanes for local cyclists.
