Help­ing fix the coun­cil’s roads

THE Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment has com­mit­ted nearly $2.5 mil­lion to up­grade Sun­shine Coast roads un­der the lat­est Roads to Re­cov­ery fund­ing round.

The pro­gram means fund­ing is pro­vided di­rectly to coun­cils to as­sist them with main­tain­ing and up­grad­ing lo­cal gov­ern­ment ar­eas.

“Across the Sun­shine Coast, four up­grades to­talling more than $2,552,000 will take place be­tween now and Fe­bru­ary next year,” Fair­fax MP Ted O’Brien said.

“In Fair­fax, nearly $1 mil­lion has been com­mit­ted to works along Dal­ton Dr in Ma­roochy­dore, as well as up­grades to the Mud­jimba Es­planade from Beach Rd north towards North Shore.”

Mem­ber for Fisher An­drew Wal­lace said he was look­ing for­ward to the projects com­menc­ing.

“Up­grade works for Cur­rimundi Rd be­tween Bud­erim and Far­low Sts are now un­der way,” Mr Wal­lace said.

“This is about mak­ing our roads safer for lo­cal fam­i­lies.”
