Coun­cil as­sis­tance for wa­ter short­ages

SUN­SHINE Coast Coun­cil will as­sist pri­vate prop­erty res­i­dents af­fected by wa­ter sup­ply is­sues by pro­vid­ing ex­tra ac­cess to coun­cil taps for do­mes­tic quan­ti­ties of wa­ter across the re­gion.

With an ex­cep­tion­ally dry win­ter con­tin­u­ing into spring, some res­i­dents whose prop­er­ties are not con­nected to the town wa­ter sup­ply are ex­pe­ri­enc­ing lengthy de­lays for tank wa­ter re­fills as the com­mer­cial wa­ter car­ri­ers strug­gle to keep up with de­mand.

Coun­cil will also be working in close part­ner­ship with Uni­ty­wa­ter to try and es­tab­lish more large quan­tity fill­ing points across the re­gion to as­sist com­mer­cial op­er­a­tors and to speed up wa­ter de­liv­er­ies to our community.

Any person ex­pe­ri­enc­ing hard­ship due to lack of wa­ter sup­ply should make their sit­u­a­tion known to friends, fam­ily, neigh­bours, rel­a­tives or as­sis­tance agen­cies for sup­port.
