Centre opens its doors
$12 million upgrades ready for use
AVENTUS Property Group, specialist fund and asset manager for the Aventus Retail Property Fund, threw open the doors to its
$12 million refurbishment at Sunshine Coast Home over the weekend.
Three new tenants also opened in the $85 million retail centre including Amart Furniture, World Gym and Sheridan.
Aventus Property Group head of development Adam Trent said the refurbishment would add significant value to the shopping experience at Sunshine Coast Home.
“It is also pleasing that three major retail names are also part of the grand opening,” he said.
“Sunshine Coast Home is one of the company’s core assets in Queensland, and we are proud of what we have achieved here since acquisition,.”
The 27,000 square metre retail centre, located at 100 Maroochydore Rd, is comprised of a diverse mix of 33 retailers and showrooms including services, home, furniture, electrical, food, auto and bedding.
Amart Furniture has secured the single largest tenancy within the centre at 6000 square metres, with World Gym following at 1500 square metres and a Sheridan Studio securing 500 square metres and taking the balance of space in the refurbished ex-Bunnings tenancy.
“The Maroochydore store is a significant addition to the Amart Furniture network,” Amart Furniture chief operating officer Scott Pears said.
“The team has done a tremendous job to be ready for the grand opening.”
The new development marks a milestone for World Gym, which is a first for the Sunshine Coast.
“Over 2000 people have already pre-registered to join us, which is a new record for the business and a phenomenal result,” World Gym co-owner Benny Elias said.
“More than $3 million has been spent on the state-of-the-art facility, which is also the first in Australia to include an outdoor ninja section.”
A second family fun day will be held on Saturday, September 30, from 10am–3pm.
Activities are set to include a jumping castle, super slide, giant jenga, face painter, balloon artist, animal farm, food trucks and more.
The area is undergoing major redevelopment including the $400 million Sunshine Plaza upgrade, a second major runway at Maroochydore Airport and a new masterplanned CBD.
