Rainforest under fire
WHAT is our council thinking allowing a developer to put an access road through the TMR forested road zone on the corner of David Low Way and Mona Vista crescent in Coolum?
The land-locked parcel of land is made up of littoral rainforest and natural watercourses.
It falls steeply away from David Low Way and Mona Vista so imagine how much fill will be needed to allow development on the site.
This makes you think that a multi-storey dwelling will have to be built to make it cost effective.
Local residents were only alerted when they saw surveyors marking out the site and putting pink marks on all the trees to be felled. One resident got in front of an earth mover and refused to budge thus saving the area this time.
Please join local residents in showing your concern for the destruction of the rainforest above Second Bay.
We are also concerned about possible impacts on the water courses and drainage of the area.
This could undermine the stability of David Low Way and Mona Vista Crescent.
