GRAB your beach ball and pic­nic mat and head down to the Beach Carnivale for a fam­ily day full of food, sports and sandy fun.

Thou­sands of par­tic­i­pants are ex­pected to en­ter and tens of thou­sands of spec­ta­tors are an­tic­i­pated to pour in the gates when the event be­gins later this month.

Event Peo­ple gen­eral man­ager Scott Hol­low said the Beach Carnivale would be a fes­ti­val of mu­sic, sports and food trucks with amuse­ments and ac­tiv­i­ties for the whole fam­ily.

“It’s a fun and fast-paced at­mos­phere that is cen­tred around food, sports and the beach,” he said.

“The multi-sport event is fo­cused around the beach and will in­clude a range of sports, that the com­mu­nity is en­cour­aged to come and try.

“Sports such as beach net­ball, vol­ley­ball, dodge­ball, soc­cer and 3x3 bas­ket­ball to name a few.”

Scott said there would be 15-20 food trucks to choose from.

Sun­shine Coast coun­cil­lor Ja­son O’Pray said he was ex­cited to see more events come to the re­gion.

“I’m happy to see more di­verse events add to a solid re­gional events port­fo­lio,” he said.

“This isn’t just a sport­ing event.

“You prob­a­bly couldn’t get a bet­ter fit for our area.”

The fam­ily-fun event will fea­ture amuse­ment rides, an out­door cin­ema, live mu­sic, beach bar and an ar­ray of sports.

The Beach Carnivale will be stop­ping in at the Sun­shine Coast at Cot­ton Tree Park on October 21-22 from 10am-10pm be­fore mak­ing its way down the east coast.
