Cupcakes help raise awareness

Community gathers for Cancer Council

Maroochy Weekly - - LIFE -

ALEXANDRA Headlands woman Sallyanne Holland opened her heart and home last week to raise vital funds for Cancer Council Queensland.

Sallyanne said the event was an afternoon to raise awareness and much needed funds to help beat women’s cancers.

“So many women and their families are affected by cancer — from high-profile stars such as Julia Louis-Dreyfus to women like my mother and aunty — so it’s important we keep working together to beat cancer,” she said.

“I love organising and hosting events so getting the girls together regularly to raise funds is my way of using my skills to give back to the community.”

A representative from Cancer Council Queensland attended the event to talk about how all proceeds raised would go towards vital research, patient support services, and prevention programs for women affected by breast and gynaecological cancers.
