Investing in children
CONGRATULATIONS to Pacific Paradise State School parents, teachers, P&C committee members and MP Fiona Simpson for the successful $34,000 Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant for the redevelopment of their playground.
This gift will keep on giving.
It is an astounding effort by the whole community, as well as the generosity of the state-wide gambling institutions which made it all possible.
Although gambling is a socially condemned institution, it is good to hear that profits are benefiting the young members of our society.
Such investment is critical in an age where greed and dysfunction negatively impacts upon the early development of children, especially in impoverished societies.
Children learn what they live.
Schools are a refuge and support for youths, where their socialisation and enculturalisation are enhanced by a generous and caring community of significant others.
When we invest in the lives of children, we are making a better Australia for future generations, ad infinitum. Every child matters.
